We are Kathleen and Zach Goodwin, and we never set out to be homesteaders. But somewhere along the way, that is what we became. What began as a desire to grow our own food and be stewards to the land evolved into a lifestyle of self-sufficiency, where growth happens every day, and not just inside the garden.
Welcome to Wanderin' Oak Gardens, a place where we strive to share what we know, what we are learning, and all the things we don't quite yet understand. It is a place to find recipes using real ingredients, learn a few tips and tricks, hear stories of our successes (and failures), and consider musings about our small place in this big world. It is a place where adventure is disguised as daily life, love is more than a four-letter word, and hands are usually covered in dirt or bread dough. We are Zach and Kathleen Goodwin. Originally from Georgia, we spent 8 years living in Colorado and Montana before returning to our roots. We are in the process of building our 5-acre homestead outside of Madison, Georgia, where we will have the chance to integrate our skills of gardening, animal husbandry, food preservation, crafting, self-sufficiency, and homestead-living into our daily life.
